Ownership Explained Simply
How Racehorse Ownership Works in Dubai
What you actually own, who makes the racing decisions, what costs are involved, how prize money is paid and what happens when a horse needs time away from racing.
In one minute
You own a defined percentage of the horse. The licensed trainer makes day-to-day welfare, training and race-placement decisions. RaceX manages owner onboarding, communications and prize-money distribution. Under the current Asaassi offer, the share price includes ongoing training, routine veterinary and stabling costs.
What do you actually own?
When you buy a RaceX share, you purchase a defined percentage interest in a named racehorse. You are not buying a ticket to a racing club or merely paying for hospitality. Your percentage determines your ownership interest and your pro-rata entitlement to the owners' share of prize money.
If you are researching ownership broadly rather than the mechanics, see our main Racehorse Ownership Dubai page.
Who looks after the horse?
The horse is in the care of a licensed professional trainer. The trainer manages training, fitness, race selection and the daily programme, supported by the stable team, veterinarians, farriers and exercise riders.
RaceX manages the owner-facing side: onboarding, administration, communication, updates, race-day information and prize-money distribution.
Who decides when and where the horse races?
The trainer makes racing recommendations based on the horse's health, fitness, handicap rating, suitable distances, race conditions and the available programme. Good ownership management means putting the horse's welfare and realistic race opportunities ahead of pressure to run simply because owners want to see the horse race.
What costs does an owner pay?
In traditional sole ownership, the owner normally pays the purchase price plus ongoing training, veterinary, stabling, farrier, transport and racing-related costs.
The RaceX model packages the ongoing operational costs into the ownership offer. For the current Asaassi opportunity, shares start at AED 5,000 for 0.5%, with no ongoing training, routine veterinary or stabling fees during the ownership term.
How does prize money work?
When the horse earns prize money, RaceX distributes the owners' 75% allocation pro-rata. Your shareholding determines your proportion of the amount available to owners.
Prize money is performance-dependent and cannot be guaranteed. Racehorse ownership should therefore be approached first as an ownership and sporting experience, with prize money as a potential financial return rather than a promised one.
What happens if the horse is injured?
Racehorses are athletes and injuries or periods of rest are part of the risk of ownership. The trainer and veterinary team determine the appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-training plan. RaceX keeps owners informed about material changes affecting the horse's programme.
RaceX does not charge owners additional routine veterinary invoices under the current ownership model.
What access do owners receive?
RaceX is designed to bring owners closer to the racing experience. Depending on scheduling, race regulations and stable operations, owner experiences can include morning trackwork, stable visits, race-day involvement and direct updates about the horse's preparation.
What is the difference between ownership and syndication?
Ownership is the interest you hold in the horse. Syndication is the mechanism that divides the horse into shares among several owners. If you want to understand the shared structure in more depth, read the Complete Racehorse Syndication Dubai Guide.
How do you get started?
Start by reviewing the horse rather than simply choosing a percentage. Look at its race record, pedigree, trainer, current rating, ownership terms and share price. You can then decide how much of the horse you want to own.
Asaassi is currently available from AED 5,000 for a 0.5% share. You can also review all RaceX horses or read the ownership FAQs before making a decision.
